Vol. 537 No. 2

Written Answers. - Compulsory Purchase Orders.

Michael Creed

Question:

275 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has received details from Cork County Council regarding a compulsory purchase order (details supplied); if he will make a decision on the matter immediately; and the reason his Department insists on having the final say in these matters when it lacks the local knowledge required to make informed decisions. [15675/01]

Cork County Council submitted the Crossbarry, R589 road alignment, compulsory purchase order 2000 for my confirmation. The functions of the Minister for the Environment and Local Government in relation to the determination of compulsory purchase orders were transferred to An Bord Pleanála under the Planning and Development Act, 2000, with effect from 1 January 2001. Any inquiries in this matter should, therefore, now be referred to An Bord Pleanála.
