Vol. 537 No. 2

Written Answers. - Energy Costs.

David Stanton

Question:

126 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the energy costs incurred by his Department each year for the past three years in each of the energy sectors respectively; the use made of renewable energy; his further plans regarding same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15851/01]

The energy costs incurred in Ireland by my Department for the past three years are as follows:

1998

£108,935

1999

£114,371

2000

£119,173

It is not possible to provide a breakdown of these figures by energy sector. The questions concerning plans for the use of renewable energy are matters upon which my Department takes advice from the Office of Public Works which is responsible for all energy installations in Government Departments.
