Question:117 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the proposals he has to prevent the development of cattle marts within urban areas; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16410/01]

The development of cattle marts in urban areas would be subject to normal planning controls and decisions in relation to individual cases would be a matter for the relevant planning authority having regard to the provisions of the development plan, or the board on appeal.
