Vol. 537 No. 5

Written Answers. - Shared Ownership Scheme.

Jack Wall

Question:

395 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will increase the maximum level of assistance under the shared ownership scheme in order to ensure that qualified applicants can make application for houses in areas in which prices have increased to such an extent as to make the existing maximum level inadequate; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16823/01]

The administration of the shared ownership scheme, including decisions regarding the setting of a maximum house price limit, is a matter for each individual local authority. The actual house price for which an applicant will be approved is, subject to any maximum limit set, determined by the local authority in the light of the individual's circumstances and their ability to meet the financial commitments involved.
