Vol. 537 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

563 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason a resource teacher has been approved to care for only a small number of students in a school (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [16787/01]

The level of resource teacher support allocated to the school in question was based on the assessed needs of those children in respect of whom additional teaching support had been sought.

My Department has no record of an application for resource teaching support for additional pupils attending the school in question. If other pupils attending the school require special support, my Department will certainly consider an application for support on behalf of these pupils.
