Vol. 538 No. 2

Written Answers. - Garda Medical Condition.

Brendan Smith

Question:

128 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his views on the situation facing a member of An Garda Síochána (details supplied) who on the advice of medical personnel, including a dermatologist, wears a beard as he suffers from folliculitis barbae; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17618/01]

This matter was addressed in some detail in the response made on my behalf to the Dáil on the Adjournment on 13 June 2001. It is not my role, nor do I intend to comment on the merits of an individual's case within the Garda Síochána.
