Vol. 538 No. 2

Written Answers. - Civil Service Recruitment.

John Perry

Question:

83 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance the position in relation to the competition for the former civil servant Sligo panel; when persons will be called for placements; if this panel will be incorporated into the transfer list for Sligo offices; if they will have to wait until the transfer list is exhausted before they will be offered placements; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17529/01]

The Civil Service Commission, which was responsible for the holding of the recent clerical officer com petition for former civil servants, have not as yet made appointments from the competition to Sligo. In filling vacancies arising in provincial locations such as Sligo the practice has been to give priority to serving civil servants on the central transfer list, provided that the Department-office in which they are serving is willing to release them. The situation is being kept under review in conjunction with the staff side union concerned.
