199 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will consider strengthening the hospital complaints procedures; and if he has given consideration to a new dispute resolution mechanism in order to decrease the risk of medical litigation. [17713/01]
The issues of hospital complaints procedures and patient advocates are being examined as part of the preparation of the new health strategy. The scope of cover document prepared for the enterprise liability scheme proposes that mediation and other dispute resolution mechanisms be used as alternatives to litigation.
