Vol. 538 No. 4

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Pat Carey

Question:

122 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Education and Science if a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9 has been assessed and deemed suitable for assistance to deal with her specific learning disability condition; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18215/01]

My Department's inspectorate has reported on the case in question.

The inspectorate has reported that the child in question does not meet the criteria for accessing resource teaching support as set out in the Department's Circular 8/99. However, the school in question has the services of a full-time learning support teacher and the child referred to by the Deputy has been receiving one-to-one tuition from the learning support teacher.
