Vol. 538 No. 4

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Recruitment.

John Perry

Question:

72 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Defence the options open to a person (details supplied) who wishes to transfer to the Army; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18267/01]

To be eligible for enlistment in the Permanent Defence Force, applicants must be under 25 years of age on the date of enlistment. As the person in question exceeds the upper age limit, she is ineligible on age grounds for enlistment.

There are no arrangements whereby personnel may transfer between the British Defence Forces and the Irish Defence Forces.
