Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Shatter – report of the Garda Complaints Board for 1999 and the proposals for change contained therein; (2) Deputy Ulick Burke – the need to outline the way the new system will operate arising from the termination of community employment schemes for school services, with particular reference to the position of supervisors and school assistants employed under the old scheme; (3) Deputy Ring – the position on the upgrading of the railway line from Westport to Dublin; (4) Deputy Creed – the up-to-date position regarding negotiations in connection with the transfer of funding for school services which were provided under community employment schemes; (5) Deputy Ó Caoláin – the gross violations of human rights in Turkish prisons; (6) Deputy Kirk – that the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development immediately addresses the serious disquiet at the levels of compensation paid to depopulated farmers in the Cooley peninsula and give urgent consideration to the serious impact on the farming industry in the area; (7) Deputy Howlin – the inadequate funding provided for County Wexford Enterprise Board for 2001; (8) Deputy McGinley – the closure of Arramara Teo, Dungloe, County Donegal, and the loss of 15 jobs; (9) Deputy Seán Ryan – the need for the retention of the thirteenth permanent post, repairs to the existing buildings and a permanent extension for St. Theresa's national school, Balbriggan, County Dublin; (10) Deputy Neville – the IFA dispute regarding compulsory purchase orders for road development; (11) Deputy Jim Higgins – the urgent need for the Minister for Education and Science to approve a new primary school for Aghamore, Ballyhaunis, County Mayo, which has only three class halls and which is grossly over-crowded with inadequate class hall facilities and outdoor space; (12) Deputy Coveney – the consequences of the Independent Insurance Company going into liquidation and the threat this poses to certain Irish businesses; (13) Deputy Deenihan – the urgent need to provide funding for the Tinteáin project, Ballybunion, County Kerry.

The matters raised by Deputies Howlin, Coveney, Shatter and McGinley have been selected for discussion.
