The preparation of the statutory documentation for a flood relief scheme for Clonmel, County Tipperary, is nearing completion. It is envisaged that the scheme proposals will be placed on public exhibition in the coming weeks. This process will afford all interested parties, including public representatives, an opportunity to submit their observations on the scheme proposals.
The design of the scheme has been prepared following extensive discussions over a long period with the local authorities in Clonmel and on foot of scheme criteria selected by them. The preparation of the scheme environmental impact statement involved consultation with a wide range of local interests including statutory, governmental and non-governmental organisations and individual groups in the area. Sufficient funds have been provided to bring the scheme to this stage.
The allocation of moneys to carry out the scheme works cannot be finalised until the scheme completes the statutory exhibition and any suggested amendments have been taken on board and the extent of works defined.
