Vol. 539 No. 1

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

Question:

371 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the status of a holiday visa application (details supplied) from a Turkish national who is attempting to visit his brother and sister-in-law in this jurisdiction; if, in this application a letter from the applicant's employer in Turkey has been submitted as proof that this applicant will return to Turkey after his holiday; and if he will make an early decision to grant a holiday visa for this applicant. [18918/01]

The visa application in question has recently been refused because it had not been established, on the basis of the documentation supplied to my Department, that the applicant would observe the conditions of a visit visa. A letter along the lines of that described by the Deputy was included with the application and taken into account in its assessment. It is open to the applicant to appeal against the refusal of a visa by writing to the visa appeals officer in my Department.
