Vol. 539 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

374 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason the Garda barracks at Golden has not been refurbished or painted for many years; his views on whether it is in need of urgent repair and improvement; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the state of the barracks militates against the great efforts being made by the citizens of Golden in relation to the Tidy Towns competition; if he will now make arrangements to have the barracks upgraded as soon as possible; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19022/01]

The accommodation requirements at Golden Garda station fall to be addressed as part of the ongoing review of Garda accommodation by the Garda authorities. When this review is completed, Golden's requirements will be addressed in the appropriate manner. In the meantime, arrangements are being made to have the station redecorated as soon as possible.
