Vol. 539 No. 1

Written Answers. - Common Agricultural Policy.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

29 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he has had discussions with his EU colleagues in the wake of Ireland's decision on the Nice treaty, with particular reference to future policy on the CAP; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18787/01]

The Agenda 2000 agreement, which was finalised by the European Council in Berlin in March 1999, sets out the framework for the CAP for the period 2000 to 2006. The result of the referendum on the Treaty of Nice does not affect that agreement on the future of the CAP.
