Vol. 539 No. 1

Written Answers. - Farm Waste Management Scheme.

Seán Ryan

Question:

47 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if there has been a resolution to the dispute on determining who should carry out audits under the farm waste management scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18807/01]

John Browne

Question:

57 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when farmers will be allowed commence building work under the farmyard pollution grant scheme or dairy hygiene grant scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18569/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 47 and 57 together.

Procedures for processing applications under the schemes of investment aid for the management of farm waste and the improvement in dairy hygiene standards are under discussion with the union concerned. The procedures set down are considered to be the minimum necessary to ensure that applicants comply fully with the terms and conditions of the schemes. Applications will be processed as soon as procedures are agreed. Every effort is being made to resolve this matter as quickly as possible.
