Vol. 539 No. 3

Written Answers. - Mobility Management Plans.

Question:

177 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the steps he has taken to implement the mobility management plans for staff commuting to their Departments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19462/01]

The overall objective of the mobility management plan issued by the Dublin Transportation Office is to achieve behavioural change in travel habits of staff. Flexitime is a family friendly initiative available in my Department which provides staff with the option of staggering their arrival and departure times thus reducing the need to commute at congested periods. Other family friendly initiatives such as the worksharing scheme and parental leave, which is a statutory entitlement, permit staff to vary their hours of attendance and travel patterns, are also available in my Department.

My Department will continue to be pro-active in the implementation of future schemes, subject to appropriate delivery of service being available to the public, which allow staff to vary their pattern of attendance.
