Vol. 540 No. 1

Written Answers. - Offshore Exploration.

Michael Ring

Question:

159 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the way in which the Corrib Gas and Condensate project can be considered when no baseline studies whatsoever have been conducted on flora, fauna, hydrology, seismic activity, air and water quality. [19852/01]

While I have received an application for a lease to develop the Corrib field this has not yet issued. When the lease issues it will be open to the developers to submit for my approval within the next two years a plan and development which will be accompanied by an environmental impact statement. As I have not yet received any EIS in connection with the Corrib Development project I am not in a position to consider the Deputy's question.

Question No. 160 answered with Question No. 155.
