Vol. 540 No. 3

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

John McGuinness

Question:

133 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the independent living facilities which are available for a visually impaired person (details supplied) in County Carlow; if the area health board can assist in locating suitable accommodation for this person; and if financial assistance is available from his Department or health board to locate the person. [20481/01]

John McGuinness

Question:

148 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will investigate the reason a personal assistant with the use of a car has been withdrawn from a visually impaired person (details supplied) in County Carlow; if the service will be restored immediately; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20546/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 133 and 148 together.

The provision of health related support services to persons with physical and sensory disabilities is the responsibility of the relevant health board. Accordingly, I have forwarded the Deputy's questions to the chief executive officer of the South-Eastern Health Board with a request that he examine the matters and reply directly to the Deputy, as a matter of urgency.
