Vol. 541 No. 2

Written Answers. - Farm Retirement Scheme.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

307 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when an early retirement scheme pension payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim, and if payment will be made retrospectively to the date when this scheme came into operation. [21458/01]

My Department was in correspondence with the person named in May this year, when he sought and was granted an exemption under the force majeure provision from certain conditions of the early retirement scheme in advance of making an application. However, he has not yet actually applied for the scheme. The date of receipt of the application is the earliest date from which payment of a pension can commence. The scheme does not provide for retrospective payments.
