Vol. 541 No. 2

Written Answers. - Service Charges.

Olivia Mitchell

Question:

723 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will subsidise local authorities to allow them charge the same effective rate of service charge to those who do not fall within the tax net as is charged to those who can avail of tax relief on service charges. [21920/01]

I have no proposals for such a scheme. It remains open to local authorities, however, to waive all or part of service charges in appropriate cases on the grounds of personal hardship.
