867 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will make a statement on the reason an application by a person (details supplied) in County Sligo to join the Garda Síochána was unsuccessful. [21202/01]
As Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, I have no function in relation to the selection and recruitment of candidates for the Garda Síochána. These are matters for the Civil Service and Local Appointments Commissioners and the Garda authorities. In the circumstances, I am unable to be of assistance in this matter. I have, however, brought the issue raised by the Deputy to the attention of the Garda authorities and I will convey their response to the Deputy once it is to hand.
