Vol. 541 No. 4

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Facilities.

Jack Wall

Question:

220 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Defence the position regarding the Curragh swimming pool; if local schools have been granted use of the facility; the opening hours of the facility; whether the general public will be able to use the facility; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23130/01]

The position is that the new swimming pool at the Curragh Camp has only recently been opened and to date it has not been possible to make the facility available for use by members of the public. However, arrangements are at present being made to permit the schools located in the Curragh Camp to use the pool and it is intended to further expand the use of the facility as soon as possible. At the moment the swimming pool is open each weekday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
