Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

232 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo has not received an area based payment. [22770/01]

The person included 123.33 hectares in his 2001 area aid application. An area of 123.19 hectares was determined which is some 0.14 hectares or 0.11% less than the area claimed. Under Article 9 of EU Regulation 3887/92, no penalty is applied when the difference is less than 3%. Therefore, in this case no penalty is applied, leaving the area determined for payment purposes at 123.19 hectares. He will be paid his full entitlement under the 2001 area based scheme before the end of October 2001.
