Vol. 541 No. 4

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Willie Penrose

Question:

264 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Finance the status of his plans for decentralisation; if he will ensure that the comprehensive application from Mullingar for decentralisation will be favourably considered; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22816/01]

The Cabinet sub-committee on decentralisation is currently considering the many and varied aspects associated with a new programme of decentralisation. Once the Cabinet committee has completed its deliberations, proposals will be submitted to the Government for its consideration and approval. As part of these deliberations full account will be taken of the very many submissions, enquiries and representations received in my Department, including those received in respect of Mullingar.
