298 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he proposes to respond to a request from the Irish College of General Practitioners to hold discussion with that body to discuss the publication of its health strategy document. [22872/01]
I presume the document to which the Deputy is referring is the joint vision statement of the Irish Medical Organisation and the Irish College of General Practitioners on the future development of general practice, which I received some months ago. That document has been considered and examined by my officials in the context of the new health strategy in particular in the area of development of general practice. I have had no formal request from the college to discuss the document with them but it is my intention, as stated previously, to engage in a consultative process with the relevant health professional bodies on the implementation of the new health strategy.
