306 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will change the policy whereby general medical service patients who suffer from eye ailments such as cataracts may have regular eye tests free of charge; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23068/01]

Services for medical card holders are treatment based. The type and range of services available and any extension or change necessary will all be considered in the context of the health strategy which aims at the structured development of the overall health service of the future.
