Question:

328 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children the progress which has been made in providing a radiotherapy unit at Waterford Regional Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23303/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 327 and 328 together.

The work of the expert group on the development of radiotherapy services is at an advanced stage. Because of the importance and the complexity of the work, it is not possible to give an exact date for their report but it is anticipated that their work will be completed before the end of the year.
The provision of radiotherapy services at Waterford Regional Hospital will be considered in the context of this report.
