Written Answers. - State Examinations.

John Bruton

Question:

158 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will conduct a qualitative and quantitative opinion survey among second level students to discover the reason so few of them are choosing to study physics and chemistry at senior level. [21122/01]

The task force on the physical sciences which I established at the end of last year is currently undertaking a survey of pupils' attitudes to the physical sciences. The outcomes of this survey will inform the final report of the task force which I expect to receive early next year.
