Vol. 542 No. 2

Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

John McGuinness

Question:

327 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will immediately grant a medical card to a person (details supplied) in Kilkenny; the reason the medical card was withdrawn; the changes which have occurred to warrant it being withdrawn; and if the full circumstances of the case will be re-examined and a decision expedited. [24040/01]

Determination of the eligibility of persons for medical cards is, by legislation, the responsibility of the chief executive officer of the relevant health board, in this case the South-Eastern Health Board. Accordingly, I have referred the Deputy's question to him, asked that he have the case investigated and that he reply directly to the Deputy when the investigation is complete.
