355 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will make a statement on recent suggestions by the Irish Hospital Consultants Association that the target date for the introduction of enterprise liability of 1 July 2002 is unlikely to be met. [24310/01]

The introduction of enterprise liability is a complex undertaking. I will take detailed proposals to Government in the coming weeks on its implementation. I see no reason at this stage to believe the target date of 1 July 2002 will not be met.
