Vol. 542 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

136 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 must wait until December 2002 to have an eye test in Temple St. Children's Hospital; his views on whether this waiting time is acceptable; and if he can offer any alternative. [24516/01]

Services for eligible patients at Temple Street Hospital are provided under an arrangement with the Eastern Regional Health Authority, ERHA. I have, therefore, asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the matter raised and respond directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.

Question:

137 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children the hospitals in Dublin which provide children's eyesight testing; the average waiting time for appointments in each; his views on a proposal from Temple St. Children's Hospital to establish a community opthalmalogical service to carry out eye-testing at local level; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24517/01]

Responsibility for the provision of hospital services to residents of Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority, ERHA. I have, therefore, asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the matter raised and respond directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
