Vol. 542 No. 3

Written Answers. - Consultancy Contracts.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

141 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has in the past four and a half years appointed to any State or semi-State board or agency, any executive or employee of consultancy firms or public relations firms which have previously benefited from contracts issued by his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24592/01]

As the Deputy is aware, when making appointments to State boards, I must have regard to the statutory constraints and the need to ensure that as wide a variety of appropriate interests as possible are represented in their composition. My Department does not hold information in relation to the full employment records of persons appointed to State boards. All contracts awarded by my Department are subject to standard public tendering procedures.
