I can inform the Deputy that I have appointed a senior tax partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers, to the Judicial Appointments Advisory Board with effect from 8 March, 1999.
The qualifying criteria for ministerial appointees to the Judicial Appointments Advisory Board are set out in section 13(2)(c) of the Courts and Court Officers Act, 1995 which states such persons:
. . . shall be persons engaged in, or having knowledge or experience (being knowledge or experience that the Minister considers appropriate) of commerce, finance or administration or persons who have experience as consumers of the services provided by the courts as the Minister considers appropriate.
As far as it can be ascertained no other executive or employee of a consultancy or public relations firm has been appointed to a State board or a semi-State board for which my Department has responsibility.
