Vol. 542 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Tony Gregory

Question:

193 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education and Science the assistance being made available to Scoil Chaitríona, Mobhi Road, Dublin 9; and the facilities which are being provided. [24512/01]

A schedule of overall accommodation has been drawn up for the redevelopment of Scoil Chaitríona. The school management authority has formally accepted this schedule. A full design team – that is, a suitably qualified architect, quantity surveyor, structural engineer and mechanical and electrical engineer – has recently been appointed and the process of architecturally planning a redevelopment of the school premises, to include additional accommodation, will begin shortly. In the interim, my Department has provided funding to the school authority to allow them to carry out health and safety works such as gas system repairs, ceiling repairs and plumbing repairs.

Michael Ring

Question:

194 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science if a site has been selected by the Office of Public Works for Gaelscoil na Cruaiche, Westport, County Mayo; if a number of sites which were available have been assessed; and when a decision will be made on site selection. [24513/01]

The property management section of the Office of Public Works has been asked to report on the possibility of acquiring a site for Gaelscoil na Cruaiche, Westport. When this report has been received and considered, the matter will be progressed further. Decisions relating to the timing of the acquisition of a site will be taken in the light of the allocations to be made for school building purposes in the forthcoming Estimates.
