Vol. 542 No. 3

Written Answers. - Consultancy Contracts.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

54 Mr. Durkan asked the Taoiseach if he has in the past four and a half years appointed to any State or semi-State board or agency, an executive or employee of consultancy firms or public relations firms which have previously benefited from contracts issued by his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24584/01]

The complete employment history and financial interests of candidates are not always known when appointment to the board of a State or semi-State organisation is being considered. Previous or ongoing association with consultancy firms or public relations companies is not a criterion for such appointment. It is not possible therefore to say which, if any, candidates benefited from consultancy contracts issued by my Department. To facilitate the Deputy, I am forwarding separately a list of appointments made by me to State or semi-State boards or agencies.
