158 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the proposals he has to relieve the burden of high rates of interest paid by a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 and many other elderly people who are paying at twice the rate of prevailing interest rates and are unable to take out new loans; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department is considering measures to address the question of remaining high fixed interest rates local authority loans. The current position in this regard is set out in reply to Question No. 711 of 3 October 2001.
