Vol. 542 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Charles Flanagan

Question:

192 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will investigate school transport for persons (details supplied) in County Laois; and if the school bus may come to the top of the road in the vicinity of the dwelling house. [24665/01]

The family concerned resides in a catchment area adjacent to that of the school referred to by the Deputy. In the circumstances, the children are eligible for catchment boundary transport only to the school in question.

It is not open to my Department to allow the pupils board the bus within the adjacent catchment area as this would be contrary to the terms of the school transport scheme.
