Vol. 542 No. 4

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Beverley Flynn

Question:

197 Ms Cooper-Flynn asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will examine an application by a school (details supplied) in County Mayo for a new school; and if he will grant funding as a matter of priority. [24670/01]

My Department has received an application for grant aid towards the cost of a building project at the school in question. The Deputy will appreciate that there has been a massive and unprecedented increase in the funds allocated by this Government to the schools building programme at all levels.

Decisions relating to the rate of progress to construction of projects, including the school referred to by the Deputy, will be taken in the light of the allocations to be made for school building purposes in the forthcoming Estimates.

Billy Timmins

Question:

198 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has purchased a site for a school (details supplied) in County Wicklow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24671/01]

My Department's legal representatives, the Chief State Solicitor's office, are in negotiations with the vendor's legal representatives in relation to the purchase of a site for Gaelscoil Chill Mhantáin. The school authorities will be informed of developments.
