Vol. 542 No. 4

Written Answers. - Voluntary Organisations Funding.

Noel Ahern

Question:

138 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the campaign by the voluntary bodies in the Carmichael Centre, North Brunswick Street, to secure a considerable grant for the repair and refurbishment of the building; if the matter is under consideration; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24650/01]

It has recently been brought to the attention of my Department that the Carmichael Centre requires funding to carry out certain capital works to its building. The responsibility for the provision of capital funding to voluntary organisations such as the Carmichael Centre in the Dublin area is, in the first instance, a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority and I understand that the authority has recently been in touch with the centre about the issue. In the circumstances, I have referred his query to the regional chief executive of the authority to examine the matter and reply directly to him.
