Question:

266 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance the amount of and cost of the barbed wire added to the security fence for the recent visit of the Chinese Ambassador; the cost of installing and subsequently removing the barbed wire; if it is intended that the barbed wire will be used again; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25018/01]

The cost of the supply and fitting of the razor wire at Farmleigh was £100,406.25, including VAT. The cost of removal to storage of the razor wire at Farmleigh was £25,515, including VAT. The amount of razor wire used was 2,205 metres.

The appropriate level of security required in relation to a delegation staying at Farmleigh will be examined on a case by case basis in conjunction with the Garda Síochána. The level of security required will ultimately depend on the level of risk assessed in each particular case.
