Vol. 542 No. 5

Written Answers. - Autism Services.

Pat Carey

Question:

297 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the campaign by the families and friends of an association (details supplied) in Dublin north west to achieve improvements within the association; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25023/01]

The provision of services to persons with autism in the Dublin region is the responsibility in the first instance of the Eastern Regional Health Authority. I understand from the authority that arrangements are currently being made to review the services provided by the agency in question. Additional revenue and capital funding for six new residential places has also been provided to this agency in 2001. The question of representation on the board of management of the agency is a matter for discussion between the families and friends association and the agency.
