Vol. 542 No. 5

Written Answers. - Compulsory Purchase Orders.

John Perry

Question:

368 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will intervene with all parties involved in the Chapel Road Residents' Committee, Cliffoney, County Sligo, and have the compulsory purchase order removed in view of a submission (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25204/01]

The functions of the Minister for the Environment and Local Government in relation to the determination of compulsory purchase orders were transferred to An Bord Pleanála under the Planning and Development Act, 2000, with effect from 1 January 2001.

Where objections to the confirmation of the order are made to the board by any of the persons upon whom notices of the making of the order are required to be served by the local authority, the board must hold an oral hearing before making a decision on the order, unless the objections are withdrawn or relate exclusively to compensation. Inquiries in this matter may appropriately be made to An Bord Pleanála.
