390 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 421 of 16 October 2001, she will advise when these grants schemes were in operation from Údarás na Gaeltachta; the person or groups in receipt of the grants; the years for which the grants were available; and the amount each person or group received. [25267/01]
Various schemes to assist the trans port sector in the Gaeltacht have been operated by Gaeltarra Éireann and its successor Údarás na Gaeltachta since 1971. Among those schemes, for example, were schemes for the transport of fish for fish farming and fish processing projects and the transport of wood in areas where the forestry industry is strong. In total, assistance was approved for 41 projects and £530,494, in all, was paid in grants since 1971. The following table sets out the details of these grants. It should be noted that some payments may still have to be made in respect of cases that had been approved prior to the discontinuance of the schemes.
