Vol. 542 No. 5

Written Answers. - Closed Circuit Television Systems.

Dick Roche

Question:

419 Mr. Roche asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason installation of the closed circuit television system for Bray, County Wicklow has not yet commenced; if the contract for the installation of the system has been signed; if not, when it will be signed; when the installation will commence; when the system will become operational; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25260/01]

Tenders for the installation of town centre CCTV systems in Bray, Dundalk, Dun Laoghaire, Finglas, Galway and Limerick were sought earlier on this year. The latest date for receipt of the tenders was 29 June 2001. Tenders received are currently being evaluated by the telecommunications section of an Garda Síochána. When this process is complete, it is intended that contracts will be placed and that the six systems referred to above, including Bray, will be operational by the end of 2002.
