Vol. 542 No. 5

Written Answers. - Psychological Service.

Pat Carey

Question:

449 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will arrange for a psychological assessment to be carried out on a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24997/01]

I have investigated the case arising from the Deputy's question. The National Educational Psychological Service Agency provides a psychological service to this school. The child concerned receives and will continue to receive learning support in a small group. This child was the subject of a consultation between the learning support teacher and the psychologist in September 2001. The school did not consider the child as a priority for referral to the psychologist at that time. In view of the Deputy's concern, however, the psychologist will review the matter on her next visit to the school, which will take place this week.
