158 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the status of the ban on meat and bone meal; if it is intended to make the ban permanent; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25112/01]

This relates to the decision by the EU Council of Ministers to extend the ban on the use of meat and bone meal in feed for cattle and sheep to all farmed animals which are kept, fattened or bred for the production of food from 1 January 2001.
