Vol. 542 No. 5

Written Answers. - Company Closures.

Brendan Daly

Question:

173 Mr. Daly asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her attention has been drawn to the temporary closure of a company (details supplied) in Ennis, County Clare; if her attention has further been drawn to the anxiety of the workforce regarding the future of the company; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [25373/01]

I have been advised by IDA Ireland that the board of the parent company informed the Irish management that it was closing the plant for a two-week period commencing 15 October 2001, and would be using that time to review all future options for the plant. At this stage, I understand there are no clear indications as to what the outcome of that review will be. The IDA is maintaining close contact with the company.
