Vol. 542 No. 6

Written Answers. - Medical Doctors.

David Stanton

Question:

237 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Health and Children when the Southern Health Board will appoint a general practitioner to Aghada and Rostellan in east Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25653/01]

I am informed by the Southern Health Board that the post was advertised in November 2000 and interviews were held in January 2001. The person recommended for appointment has completed all formalities in connection with his appointment and the board is in discussion with the doctor concerned with regard to his start date. In the meantime the retiring doctor is continuing to provide medical services to patients.
