Nominations to the board of the Combat Poverty Agency are made on the basis that they will be appointed on a particular range of experience and knowledge relevant to the development of social policy in Ireland and to the work of the agency as laid down in section 4 of the Combat Poverty Agency Act, 1986; be appointed in line with all relevant Government policy relating to appointment of individuals to boards of State agencies, including the Code of Conduct for State Bodies published by the Department of Finance; be appointed, account having been taken of the composition of the board so as to maximise, where possible, the range of perspectives from different aspects of Irish society; be appointed on a staggered basis in order to ensure that the board retains a memory of past actions and an adequate quota of members experienced in board procedure and issues.
